Triple M may be able to help you sell your horse.  We do not take in horses that have
severe problems however...we find that our customers are looking for safe, reliable
mounts.

Now....when I take a horse in to sell, I MUST have the horse for 30 days before he/she will be placed
for sale.  I ride and handle the horse during this time, getting to know the horse and making sure
that your horse is suitable to be sold from our farm.  I do not sell problem or difficult horses, and I
need to make sure that your horse is the kind of horse that my customers have come to expect
when they purchase a horse from us.  The charge for the horse being here for the trial is $250.00.
This includes their board, plus my time evaluating them.  If your horse has been in training here,
then the trial period is waived and is not necessary and can be immediately placed for sale.

When we take your horse in to sell we keep the horse(s) rode, clean and ready to be shown at any time.  There
are several ways we take horses in to sell.....

  1. We sell your horse for a commission and minimal daily board fee.  Currently, the board fee is $150.00
per month, and our commission is 10% of the sale price.
  2. Taking a horse "In on the cuff"..... This is where the owner doesn't pay a feed board.  The owner has a
price that he/she wants, lets say $1000.  I sell the horse for $1800 and the owner gets his $1000 and I
keep the remainder.  Obviously this won't work if you want $1000 for your horse and the top price he will
bring is $1200.  We have to feed/hay your horse, advertise and ride your horse daily.  I'm picky about the
horses I do this with as obviously this is a gamble!  Sometimes I lose money, sometimes I make money!
I really try to NOT lose money.....so I'm picky!  Keep in mind that the cost of feeding a horse right now is
approximately $7.00 per day.  So if your horse is here one month, the cost of just feeding him is
$210.00.  I also advertise the horse on several different sale sites, and the cost of that ranges from
$30.00 to $10.00, depending on the site.  We take pictures and video of your horse, and are available to
show your horse any day and time the prospective seller prefers.  So keep in mind, that if I just make
$300.00 per month the horse is here, I am only breaking even.  I try to price the horse approximately
$500.00 per month over the price of what the owner wants.  It generally takes 2 months to sell, so don't
be surprised to see me asking that much over what you want!
  3. Last but definitely not least....the most favorite of all it seems....this is the most popular one....going in
halves.  This is where we split what the horse brings.  Again....this won't really work if your horse is only
going to bring $500.00.  We don't do this for horses that will be sold for less than $3000.
  4. Finally....your horse must have a current coggins, and you are responsible for keeping your horse
shod/trimmed, wormed and vetted while he/she is for sale.

For all of the above I advertise the horse on the appropriate sale sites, take pictures and videos and place
on our website.

Registration papers MUST be signed, and the appropriate transfer papers signed and brought with your horse to Triple
M.  I recently had a situation where a prospective buyer from Alabama came to try the horse, brought a trailer, and I
realized the owner of horse had only brought me copies of the papers.  BUYERS WILL NOT BUY A HORSE WHEN YOU
SAY THE PAPERS ARE SOMEWHERE ELSE AND THEY WILL BE MAILED!!!!!!!  We will lose a sale over this!  I keep
th
e registration papers at my house, not at the barn and they won't be stolen!

How to determine your horse's price:

Age, breed, pedigree, conformation and experience are the driving factors of determining a horse's price.
Many people think that the horse they love is worth alot of money, and to you, your horse is valuable.  However,
we have to figure out what someone else will pay!  In my experience, if you have your horse priced right, he will
sell quickly
, within 2 months!  If you have a horse you have been trying to sell for awhile, chances are that you
priced him too high and comparable horses were found cheaper elsewhere.  I hear all of the time that "I paid
for 6 months training at $600.00 per month so I have to get $4000 for him".  Please understand that what you
have in him financially may not be what someone else will pay.   Go to the equine sale sites and do searches
for horses in your age, breed, pedigree and experience and look for the ones that SOLD....not the ones that
are for sale.
Just because someone is asking $5000 for their horse, it doesn't mean they will GET $5000.
You are trying to figure out what people are paying....not what people are asking.  Even this method isn't
foolproof, as the sold price shown may not be the actual price the sellers accepted.  You are just looking for a
ballpark figure.  Unfortunately, the horse world doesn't have a blue book like the automobile world!  Sure would
make it easier if we did!
